Took my bike in to the LBS for some maintenance and decided to replace the chain & rear cog. The cog my mechanic chose for me is longer lasting yet lighter. It’s a good thing I picked up the box and saw the check mark for 12-25 teeth! I burst out laughing. I guess he doesn’t want me to make it to the top of any hills. I usually kick myself for not having enough teeth (would prefer up to 32). So he has ordered the same 11-28 teeth that I currently have. I have a compact, not a triple, so HELL NO! I’m not going less than 28. If I want to go more than 28 I would have to change the shifters, not worth the expense, easier to keep practicing hills, lol.

Woke up this morning & looked outside & (GASP!) it’s not a beautiful sunny day. In fact, it’s completely overcast! It’s supposed to be sunny later this afternoon. The rain is expected by Friday, & I fear that will be the end of our extended summer. We’ve literally had 3 full months of gorgeous sunny weather from mid July to mid October. Sooo, out of the ordinary for the west coast of Canada. When I retire I will move somewhere sunny. Unfortunately, in Canada, the cities with great summers have super harsh winters. I guess I need two houses!

Holding on to summer

for just a bit longer. It’s quite cool in the morning, and it’s getting dark pretty early, but by midday it’s still 70 - 75 degrees.

Going out with the ladies tomorrow morning (should probably cover the knees). Not sure if this will be our last ride of the season. I hope to get out a few more times before I lock and load into the trainer for the winter.

And now that I’m no longer working graveyards, the local spin club class times work for me. It’s a pay as you go system with no membership required - best system ever. Still haven’t tried it yet, but I’m trying to improve my cardio, so this seems like a good idea.

Early Saturday Ride: The sun is shining for the 3rd day in a row. This is a BIG DEAL if you’re from the Vancouver suburbs. It has been a VERY wet May & June!
