Adventure Ride
Thought I would try to ride to a nearby park that normally is accessed by a short trip down the shoulder of a highway. The highway is currently under construction, so there is no shoulder whatsoever, but I often see cyclists on a path a few meters below the highway. Thought I would check it out for myself.

Took the detour as directed by the sign and found this path.

Should have brought the mountain bike, cause this was not as smooth as it looks in the picture. After following this path, I came across a section where I was detoured once again, but this time the route told me the park access was closed and I was sent in a completely different direction away from the park. Settled on a different game plan to loop around back home. Then I came to a sudden stop on a section of path that someone thought sand would be a great medium. It’s not.

Can’t ride in this, so short walk to some of this stuff:

Yeah, rocks, can’t ride in this either. Don’t even need the mountain bike now as I would just be pushing a heavier bike while still walking! Walked a bit further, then carried my bike across 5 sets of railroad tracks to a proper road, and then headed home. A few blocks from my place is a beautiful park with a paved multi-use path. Rode a section of that, then stopped for a quick pic.

I think tomorrow I’ll do one of my regular road routes.
